Chelsea Vs Tottenham Hotspurs on Wednesday 8th May 2013 at Stamford Bridge.
Last Win/Defeat Last Win/Defeat
Lost 2-1 v Southampton (A) 30/3/13 Lost 0-1 v Fulham (H) 17/3/13

CHELSEA: INTERIM MANAGER, RAFAEL BENITEZ.
What a win! Only the third team to defeat Man United at their home ground during this season.
Best performers for Chelsea on the day were Frank Lampard with Matta getting the back of the net. Too good!
This game on Tuesday night against Tottenham Hotspurs is of immense importance to both teams given they have come off recent wins.
The outcome of this game is all about a final in the top four of the English Premier League with winning Tuesday’s game being crucial for both teams.
Chelsea’s chance of a win could depend on the fitness of Eden Hazard – he is such an important member of the team.
Chelsea have won 14 of 27 matches since Rafael Benitez took over as interim manager driving Chelsea to 4th place on the English Premier League table. Nineteen points short of EPL leaders, Man United.
Benitez’ title (or lack of it) has been the cause of much discontent throughout this time at Chelsea, however, in all reality he has achieved an excellent result but too much acrimony (water under the bridge) – call it what you will, has played too prominent a role for him to remain.
He should be congratulated for achieving a top spot for Chelsea.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS: MANAGER, ANDRE VILLAS BOAS.
Most recent games:
5/3/13 Tottenham Hotspurs 1-0 Southampton
28/4/13 Wigan 2-2 Tottenham Hotspurs.
The long and short of it is The Spurs must win Tuesday’s game against Chelsea to take up a place in the top four sides of the English Premier League table.
Interestingly, Tottenham’s manager, Andre Villas Boas will be experiencing his first visit to Chelsea following his sacking last March. He gives every appearance of not being “fazed” by this encounter. Rather it would seem to be Chelsea’s Rafael Benitez who would rather be elsewhere.

Man City Vs West Brom on Tuesday 7th May 2013 at Etihad Stadium.
Last Corresponding Game:
Wednesday 11th April 2012 at Etihad Stadium
Man City 2-1 West Ham
MAN CITY: MANAGER, ROBERTO MANCINI
Latest Games:
Swansea City 0-0 Man City
Man City 2-1 West Ham
It is a given that Man City will be handing their title to Man United at the end of this season following a 44 year time-span.
For Man City this season is essentially about what could have been, of lost opportunities and not optimizing and achieving during the summer transfer period and of leaving the fulfilment of their potential until too late in the season.
Mancini appears less than happy with the outcome of Man City’s summer transfer period with the forthcoming season already looking good with the signing of a four year contract with Yaya Toure with his amazing ability in the midfield. With his poise and touch he should become a stand-out for Man City in addition to becoming a star within the English Premier League.
Man City should rally and put on display the determination required to win Tuesday’s game against West Brom.
They could have achieved much more this season and gaining the points against West Brom on Tuesday should help reinstate their faith in their ability to play as the second top team in the English Premier League.
WEST BROM: MANAGER, STEVE CLARKE
Following being ruled out of West Brom’s last match with Wigan Chris Brunt and Goran Popov just maybe starters for the match against Man City on Tuesday night.
James Morrison and Youssouf Mulumbu are again available for selection.
One of the most disappointing aspects of the loss is that The Baggies twice held the lead but were unable to capitalize on that lead, not playing as well in the second half of the game compared with the first half of the game. If indeed they had been able to keep up their first-half form they well may have won the game. Not to be.
The equalizer at half time seemed to inject new life into the Wigan team which saw them through to victory.
The Baggies are most unlikely to switch off for their final games battling relegation and have flagged their intention to fight on with “what ever it takes” to achieve their aim of 50 points.
West Brom have just three games left and given their injury list and suspensions they have little depth in their squad, however heaps of determination.
Statistically, they are unlikely to win Tuesday’s game but determination just might bring them closer than they anticipate.

Wigan Vs Swansea on Tuesday 7th May 2013 at the DW Stadium.

WIGAN: MANAGER, ROBERTO MARTINEZ
Roberto Martinez has been quoted as saying prior to the English Premier League game against West Brom at The Hawthorns that “…his players are looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead and not letting nerves get the better of them.”
What an amazing 2-3 outcome for Wigan and no doubt Martinez will be desperate to maintain that same level of top performance from both his players and the Wigan supporters (which has such a positive impact on the game.
Injury concerns surround Jean Beasejour out with a hamstring injury along with Antolin Alcaraz being sidelined with a similar injury. Midfielder James Mc Arthur could possibly return to the side.
Wigan, once again, find themselves in the battle against relegation, however, to date they have survived slipping into the relegation zone and perhaps this season will prove to be no exception.
A victory over Swansea could see Wigan achieving 15th place on the English Premier League table. This, however, will be dependent upon the results of other games.
Wigan currently sit 18th on the English Premier League table with 35 points.
SWANSEA: MANAGER, MICHAEL LAUDRUP
Injury concerns continue to plague Swansea City as it appears they will be without top scorer, Michu who is suffering from a hamstring injury.
Swansea are now seven English Premier League games without a win. They were sufficiently good to have opportunities to score which were squandered – expensive mistakes which simply should not happen.
Michael Laudrup is quoted as saying he expects Wigan to give “everything they have” when the two teams encounter each other at DW Stadium on Tuesday night.
Swansea remain just two points short of safety following their exciting 3-2 win over West Brom. Laudrup pretty much sums it up when he sas “they will come at us with everything they have.”
Three points in this game at the DW Stadium should see the Swans finish in the top half of the English Premier League table.
Swansea currently sit at 9th place on the English Premier League table with 43 points.

Sunderland Vs Stoke City at the Stadium of Light on Monday 6th May 2013.
Last Corresponding Game:
18th September 2011 at the Stadium of Light
Sunderland 4-0 Stoke City

SUNDERLAND

Sunderland’s squad is somewhat diminished going into Monday night’s clash with Stoke City having forward Stephane Sessegnon out for the remainder of the season having been shown a red card at Villa Park.
Striker, Connor Wickham (calf) is an unlikely starter with Steven Fletcher and Lee Cattlemole out injured for the remainder of the season.
Sunderland come into this match against Stoke from a thrashing at Villa Park . Di Canio will not be wanting a repeat of that performance. He is quoted as saying:
“It was a very bad performance – it wasn’t acceptable.” He went on the remark that perhaps Sunderland were over confident as a result of their victories over Newcastle and Everton in their two previous games.
Di Canio must be concerned with Danny Graham’s scoring ability (or lack of it) since his five million pound move to Sunderland in January. He really must score in Monday night’s game against Stoke as Premier League survival could well depend on it.
Complacency, over-confidence – call it what you will Sunderland will need a vastly different game plan in place when they match up against Stoke on Monday.
STOKE CITY
Injury concerns continue at Stoke over Andy Wilkinson, Glenn Whelan along with Mark Wilson who is suffering hamstring problems.
Stoke will be aiming for a third consecutive win on Monday night. The Potters’ form has been inconsistent with wins over QPR and Norwich which appear to have pulled them clear of relegation although mathematically this is still not guaranteed.
Stoke will go into Monday’s game with confidence on their side, however keeping in mind Sunderland will be desperate to achieve victory in this game.
Should be an exciting encounter for the supporters of both Stoke and Sunderland.

Man United Vs Chelsea on Sunday 5th May at Old Trafford

MAN UNITED
Man United are looking good for Sunday’s clash with Chelsea with Paul Scholes returning to the squad – he has been out with an injured knee. In addition, skipper Nemanja Vidic has returned from a calf strain. Danny Wellbeck has been ruled out.
Sir Alex Ferguson will be only too aware that Chelsea are chasing a Champions League place and will be in there with a will to win to defeat the champions that Man United have become this season.
So, for Man United to finish off this season at a peak performance they need a convincing win over Chelsea along with plans for new additions over the summer to further enhance their status as champions – as number on in the English Premier League.
CHELSEA
Last game at Stamford Bridge Chelsea cruised to a 2-0 victory over Swansea which in turn placed them third on the English Premier League table.
Rafael Benitez no doubt will be closely examining his tactics and plans to keep Chelsea’s momentum at its peak.
Furthermore, to the advantage of Benitez he has Ashley Cole returning to the squad from his European suspension.
Most recent games for Chelsea:
18/4/13 Fulham 0-3 Chelsea
22/4/13 Liverpool 2-2 Chelsea
29/4/13 Chelsea 2-0 Swansea
Seems all of the Man United /Chelsea rivalry is getting somewhat “over the top.” English Premier League football should be all about the beauty of the game, the skills encompassed within the game and the excellence of the tactics employed by both sides.
Personal rivalry has no constructive role to play.
Chelsea should remember Man United have already secured the EPL title.

Liverpool Vs Everton on Sunday 5th May 2013 at Anfield.
Last Corresponding Game:
Tuesday 13th March 1012 at Anfield:
Liverpool 3-0 Everton
LIVERPOOL
Brendan Rodgers has every reason to speak of intensity and passion going into this important game against Everton on Sunday as he has a fully fit squad with just about the only question mark being that over the fitness of Fabio Borini who appears to becoming ever closer to match fitness.
What amazing timing for Brendan Rogers!
A statistic which must be taken into account is that Everton has failed to claim three points at Anfield since 1999. A long, long time ago.
David Moyes will be only too aware of this stat so no doubt all coaching staff at Everton will be aiming to collectively mastermind the means of changing this statistic and achieving a victory.
Liverpool, according to various media reports will be aiming for a strong start expecting battles over all of the pitch.
Many sports journalists appear to be of like mind that Everton will target Daniel Sturridge given his outstanding performance in Liverpool’s 6-0 annihilation of Newcastle.
Liverpool will thank Everton for their support for those affected by the Hillsborough tragedy.
Rivalry on the pitch is the “stuff” of English Premier League football – so, fortunately it seems is compassion, support and sportsmanship.
This is as it should be.
EVERTON
David Moyes appears to be going into Sunday’s game not knowing exactly what to expect from the game, what tactics will be employed by Liverpool. One absolute is that Everton will go in there with a passion to win given Everton are 6th on the English Premier League table on 59 points with Liverpool sitting in 7th place with 54 points.
It seems Darron Gibson should be fit to return for the game, however, captain Phil Neville has been ruled out with a knee injury.
Everton’s most recent games:
17/4/13 Arsenal 0-0 Everton
21/4/13 Sunderland 1-0 Everton
28/4/13 Everton 1-0 Fulham.

West Ham Vs Newcastle on Saturday 4th May 2013 at the Boleyn Ground.
WEST HAM
No new injury concerns. Joe Cole is expected to return to the team following regaining fitness and pushing for a place of the field after being on the bench for some time.
Most Recent West Ham Games: English Premier League
18/4/13 West Ham 2-2 Man United
21/4/13 West Ham 2-0 Wigan
27/4/13 Man City 2-1 West Ham.
For a team sitting at 10th place on the English Premier League table the above results are really quite impressive. However, on the down side West Ham have managed only two clean sheets in their last fourteen English Premier League meetings with Newcastle. In addition to conceding 32 goals in total in this run.
The Hammers have won just two of fourteen meetings with the Magpies drawing five and losing four.
NEWCASTLE
Newcastle, sadly for their fans, will have full back Debuchy missing from their line up as a result of suspension. Foolish man.
That Newcastle are suffering from a severe slump in form is difficult to deny and even more difficult to explain.
The Magpies finished in the top five in the English Premier League last season and now find themselves struggling to maintain their place in the English Premier League – an inconceivable consideration this time last season. Complacency perhaps?
It’s time for their top players to stand up and be counted in what could well turn into a “dog-fight” when they travel to West Ham on Saturday.
Man questions need to be asked, many players need to be re-assessed and perhaps the coaching staff needs a review. Where has their momentum gone? Who is responsible? How long will the fans tolerate dismal performances?
Newcastle must win on Saturday – the ramifications of losing are too awful for the fans to contemplate.

West Brom Vs Wigan Athletic at The Hawthorns on Saturday 4th May 2013.

WEST BROM
Steve Clarke is quoted as saying;
“We want to give our fans something to think about.”
Along with Wigan the Baggies too are in top form following their 3-0 victory at Southampton.
How good does it get for West Brom with nine home wins this season – really quite an achievement and one to be admired.
West Brom are an improved side to the one fielded last season and if statistics are anything to go by, as this year The Baggies have conceded three less goals than at the corresponding time last season.
Steve Clark’s men will play at their very best to match some previous and long standing records held by West Brom in prior years and indeed they do seem well poised to achieve a win on Saturday.

WIGAN ATHLETICS
Roberto Martinez has claimed “The margins in the fight to avoid relegation are smaller than ever.”
Several players could return and enhance the team and included among them is centre-back Antolini Alcaraz (hamstring) who just might be full fit to take to the field, however, Ronnie Stern could also along with Frazer Fyvie be in contention.
It appears from all reports that Wigan’s drawn game with Tottenham last week has made Wigan hungry for success and desperate to avoid relegation. They feel empowered b this last drawn game and are anxious to return to the field whilst their fitness and finesse remain at a peak level.
This game against West Brom is indeed a huge challenge with Wigan feeling ready to “take on” West Brom and give their fans a performance to be proud of – all positives.

Tottenham Hotspurs Vs Southampton on Saturday 4th May at White Hart Lane.
Last Corresponding game at White Hart Lane was on Saturday 18th December 2004 with the outcome being: Tottenham 5-1 Southampton.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS
Andre Villas-Boas will pull out all stops to see Tottenham attempt to climb further up the English Premier League table from their current 5th place with 62 points.
At the time of writing this article it is yet to be determined whether midfielder Mousa Dembele has fully recovered from his hamstring injury and will be able to play. Striker, Emmanual Adebayor and midfielder, Jake Livermore are available. All of the above three players add weight to the team.
Tottenham Hotspurs last games have been against:
21/4/13 Tottenham Hotspurs 3-1 Man City
28/4/13 Wigan Athletic 2-2 Tottenham Hotspurs.
This weekend’s game for the Spurs is a pivotal game as it could see them finish in the top four sides of the English Premier League. They will need to return to their winning ways following their recent
SOUTHAMPTON
Focus is foremost in the game plan for Mauricio Pochettino has set for this weekend’s game against Tottenham. The Spurs sit on 62 points and Southampton on 39 points.
Southampton will be without the services of Ramirez and Fox owing to suspension. (The first of their three match bans).
Left back, Luke Shaw seems to have recovered from an ankle injury and will feature in the team.
Southampton, however, remain in there with a chance in this game against the highly rated Spurs as they have defeated Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City over the past two months and it remains possible that winning against top sides could yet again prove to be the case. Tottenham beware!
The outcome of other games will help determine whether or not the Saints advance up the English Premier League table.
Whatever the outcome of this game Pochettino is to be congratulated on what he has achieve with his team this season.

Swansea Vs Man City on Saturday 4th May 2013 at Liberty Stadium.
Last Corresponding Game:
Sunday 11thMay 2012 at Liberty Stadium
Swansea 1-0 Man City
SWANSEA CITY
Michael Laudrup has been quoted as saying “ We have to be at our best and hope that a couple of theirs are not at their best.”
The injured Chico Floris who suffered bruising to his arm appears as though he will be fit to take to the field for Swansea on Saturday. Roland Lamah is out with a hamstring injury.
Last two games for Swansea:
21/4/13 Swansea 0-0 Southampton
29/4/13 Chelsea 2-0 Swansea City.
Swansea have not picked up three points in their last six English Premier League games – losing four and drawing two.
The Swansea City line up is likely to include the in form Vor, Rangel, Chico, Williams, Taylor, the all important Michu and Hennandez.

MAN CITY
This game promises to be an enthralling encounter with, so far, at all English Premier League games between Swansea City and Man City have seen the home side win. In addition, Roberto Mancini’s team have lost only four of their last twenty English Premier League games.
Roberto Mancini has used the word “dangerous” when describing Saturday’s opponent, Swansea. In addition Man City lack the home ground advantage.
Mancini is only too aware that Swansea are coming off a successful performance last season and have continued to play very well.
Given that Mancini is successful in achieving a victory over Swansea it seems fair to assume transfer and recruitment plans will begin to occupy his thoughts, however, he is keeping them firmly under wraps until this season draws to a close.
This game has every promise of being an exciting encounter which could go either way. Both sides want to win this one and we can count on a 100% effort from both Swansea and Man City.
